I have been on a retreat and found this book to be a perfect guide for a personal retreat, possibly small groups, home Bible study groups, and of course, church retreats. Use it as a guide to get closer to God. There are six sessions laid out for you with an introduction. This book can be completed in one day.

Background information such as word meanings and settings are given for each scripture passage. The closing for each session includes the same prayer. Questions and prompts are given with a space for readers to respond.
This is the first book of Jan Johnson's I have reviewed, I like her style and you can tell she has experienced a close relationship with God.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from NavPress Publishers as part of their Blogger Review Program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I want to do the Emmaus walk. My mother went on it and love it. I'm passing on the "Irresistably Sweet" blogger's award on to you. Come by my site to get it.
