I have been on a retreat and found this book to be a perfect guide for a personal retreat, possibly small groups, home Bible study groups, and of course, church retreats. Use it as a guide to get closer to God. There are six sessions laid out for you with an introduction. This book can be completed in one day.

Background information such as word meanings and settings are given for each scripture passage. The closing for each session includes the same prayer. Questions and prompts are given with a space for readers to respond.
This is the first book of Jan Johnson's I have reviewed, I like her style and you can tell she has experienced a close relationship with God.

As Gabby's life is finally coming together after being homeless and losing her mother she is troubled when her estranged husband, Philip, wants back in her life and her lawyer, Lee, wants their relationship to go further. She calls on her House of Hope friends for prayer and guidance.

Who Is My Shelter? A book review.

This is a continuing saga of Gabrielle Fairbanks and how she rebuilds her life after being put out on the streets by her husband. Gabby has renewed her relationship with God and build relationships with the women at a homeless shelter where she was a resident. At this point in her relationship with the Lord, Gabby is learning to depend on Him instead of her friends. This book is an excellent read, you won't want to put it down once you start.

This book is about the practice of daily prayer. I’ve not been aware of the liturgical prayers before and this is something definitely worth researching.
The Bible gives us instructions to pray without ceasing. You may struggle with this concept but Robert Benson explains the purpose and importance of the daily prayers in detail and gives several good analogies. His writing style is comfortable and understandable.
God loves for us to spend time with Him and daily prayers are the way the ancients did it. There are examples in the back of the book to get you started.

I recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn more about the ancient practice of saying the office of the hours.

LOVE. A Fruit of the Spirit Bible Study Review.

I lead a ladies bible study weekly and am always looking for new studies so I was happy to see this one listed for review. I have to say I am pleased with it and plan to add it to my list of potential studies.

There are questions for group discussion and for personal reflection, a place to write notes or prayers are also in the book.

This is a 6 week study, great for new believers. The examples given through scripture will open your eyes and soften your heart.

The week on forgiveness will remind you of how God has forgiven us and how we are to forgive others.

A Book Review.

Dr. Stanley has done it again! This book is extremely helpful to anyone, even if you don't think you have anger issues.... the world is an angry place!

As Dr. Stanley points out anger can sometimes be buried deep within us. He brings scripture to light and helps one to realize there is a way to deal with anger and unforgiveness and be in peace with ourselves and those around us. He gives the signs of pending anger and helps us understand the consequences of our anger.

Dr. Stanley's knowledge and teaching helped me to recognize the anger I was hoarding and taught me how to deal with it.

A review of "The Lucado Life Lessons Study Bible".

This is a beautiful Bible. The NKJV is easy to read and Max has given insight to scripture that inspires me to study deeper and I yearn to know God more intimately.

There is an introduction to each book so you know a bit more about the writer and get a peek into the book. Scripture is easy to find. Pages do not run together, each book begins on a new page, the print is a good size and the pages are laid out nicely.

I especially like the way Max gives us the situation, the observation, and the inspiration of the scripture on each page.

Book Review. Tunnel of Light. Answers to life found in death.

Wow. That word says it all. This book will hold your interest. I read it through in one evening. I especially liked the explanations at the end of each person's story that told what their belief of the afterlife was and the change they experienced after their NDE.

Hell is a real place, a place you do not want to go. Heaven is real, this is where you want to spend eternity. This book will open your eyes to an afterlife.
