Orphaned in Iowa, Annie Kennedy moves to Boston to stay with her spinster aunt. She longs for romance to fill the void left by her parents' death. But when she falls hard for Steven O'Connor, the man who broke an engagement to her sister, Annie is worried. Will he break her heart too when he discovers who she really is?
My thoughts...
Seventeen year old Annie and her young sister move to Boston after their parents die. Annie meets up with college friends of her older sister, Maggie, who now lives in California. Annie is ready to grow up and have the kind of experiences Maggie did. One of the first people she meets is Steven, her sister's former flame, and she falls head over heels in love with him. He is attracted to her as well and doesn't know she is Maggie's sister. Things heat up until Maggie shows up with a secret that could tear everyone apart.
I did not like Steven's character, he treated Annie like she was a bratty kid, and he talked like a gangster from the old black and white tv days. His family, Annie's family, and Annie herself are very likeable people. I liked that Annie had a heart for God. I give this one 4 out of 5 stars.
I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
